The debate about artificial intelligence is furious around the world especially in artistic circles. Some artists are even actively organizing groups to oppose AI generated images. We believe the best way to approach this hot topic is with images. Lets have a close look at some popular graphics that have been generated with the help of machines.

This dramatic image of a younger woman with vague doves in the background might not be very out of place in a art exhibit. Sure her shoulders are a bit off but over all a convincing picture created by text-to-image generative AI.

This image shows a horse at a business meeting. It also seems to demonstrate a carefree non linier approach to mixing symbols and media together. The critics of AI will have to accept that while AI is just mixing millions of pictures together, it does this ‘mixing’ in a very non-human way. This alien-ness of symbolic juxtaposition that is the hallmark of AI, seems at times to flirt with something quite incredible. But is it art?
